Cuenta Conmigo Coop is an inclusive group focused on maternal and child health that supports and strengthens families, communities and organizations to achieve health and well-being for all.
We started as a community group in 2019. Through a partnership with Jefferson County Public Health – Maternal Child Health team and the support of Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition, Cuenta Conmigo emerged from the questions and interest of community members, particularly Latina family, friend, and neighbor childcare providers, interested in supporting families to breastfeed their babies. After a massive response to de COVID pandemic in which we needed to refocus our attention, in 2022, Cuenta Conmigo joined the Worker Incubator Project with Edgewater Collective. In September 2023, Cuenta Conmigo Cooperative became an official cooperative business upholding the values of equity, collaboration, and community.
Our activities:
- We host free community groups and direct support for parents (home visits or virtual).
- We develop lactation, nutrition, and mental health messaging and curriculums adapted to the interests and needs of the Latino community.
- We offer trainings to support child development, breastfeeding, and community emergency preparedness to community members, groups and childcare providers. Including community lactation counselors and a pathway to achieve IBCLC certification.
- We offer consulting services for organizations, including research and data analysis to inform programming and support families effectively.
Cuenta Conmigo is a member of the United States Breastfeeding Committee, a recognized breastfeeding peer-program by the International Board of Lactation Consultants Examiners.
